MMA Presents Mary Lovelace O’Neal

JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI.- The Mississippi Museum of Art presents "Mary Lovelace O’Neal," on view through February 9, 2003. This exhibition is the first to survey the large-scale abstract paintings of Jackson, Mississippi native Mary Lovelace O’Neal, who chairs the art department at the University of California, Berkeley. Since the mid-1970s, O’Neal has created vibrant paintings with rich surfaces and frenzied brushwork. Organized by the MMA, the presentation of 25 years of O’Neal’s art is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue including essays by David Driskell, Melanie Herzog, and Lilly Wei.
