Studio KO: A monograph published by Rizzoli New York
The book features a selection of projects including the Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Marrakesh.

NEW YORK, NY.- Studio KO’s name resonates with the timeless and pure aesthetics of the architect’s duo Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty. A refreshing modernist design composed of rough materials such as stone, wood or forged metals, rejecting the « smooth » to emphasize the effect.

The monograph opens on the Yves Saint Laurent Museum. Inaugurated in October 2017 and dedicated to the fashion designer’s work, the museum was commissioned by Pierre Bergé who signed a beautiful preface. It continues with a selection of Studio KO’s most beautiful villas, under the light and heat of exceptional places in Morocco or South of France.

The Villas stand as monolithic and peaceful structures. Stone and glass fit together to create a play of light with the outside. The photographs capture the contrasts of a minimalist architecture perfectly fitting the landscape.

Among the agency clients appear Francis Ford Coppola, André Balazs, Marella Agnelli as well as fashion houses (AMI and Balmain) and the brand AESOP.

Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty, Studio KO’s founders, met during their studies at Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Paris. In 2000, they created their agency which gathers now about 50 co-workers. With offices in Paris, Marrakesh and London, they appeal with their environment friendly architecture that privileges the local and natural materials to the concrete/glass alliance.

Tom Delavan is a specialist in decorative art, artistic designer, interior designer and design editor at the New York Times T Magazine.

Dan Glasser is a Britain photographer, specialized in fashion, architecture and interiors. His photograph appears in famous and international publications such as Monocle or The Independent.
