Romare Bearden, The Sirens Song.
|
NEW YORK.- The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture presents Romare Bearden: From the Studio and Archive, through January 7, 2005. Drawing on the collections of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and collectors Russell Goings and Evelyn N. Boulware, this exhibition explores aspects of Harlem Renaissance painter Romare Beardens approaches to developing his craft. On display are selected works by Bearden, as well as rarely seen drawings, books and sketchbooks from the artist's personal library.
The exhibition is a component of the Romare Bearden Homecoming Celebration from September 2004 to March 2005, with multidisciplinary citywide programs and events occasioned by the presentation of the National Gallery of Art exhibition The Art of Romare Bearden at the Whitney Museum (October 2004 to January 2005).
