LONDON, UK.- The amount of visitors to the V&A rose by more than 100%. The average visits to national museums and galleries in England rose 75% in the three years since admission charges were abolished. According to new figures released by the government there were 13 million visitors to museums in 2004. Before the admission charges were eliminated, there were 7 million visitors. Visits to museums that have always been free had risen by 9% over the period.
