STONINGTON, CT.- Samson Tonton is a Haitian-American artist who is taking the painting world by storm. This show is a collection of his awe-inspiring works that push the conventional thinker to reimagine nature, love and the self. Explore his work and allow yourself to be moved by his incredible style and focus to detail.

Samson is an artist inspired by the beauty of complex nature. He believes nature permeates and comprises everything including humans as we are part of nature. He believes nature permeates and comprises everything we see around us and he deviates from the simplistic understanding of nature to include humanity as well. He utilizes paint on canvas to convey his view of the world, capturing everything from major systems in nature and people to the small moments that make up every day. Art is all about helping others see the world as you see it and gain a better understanding of their own world.

Born and raised in a small town in Haiti, Samson has been drawing and doodling ever since he was old enough to hold a pencil.

Originally, he believed he wanted to be an animator and received his degree from the Art Institute of Boston. After graduating, he decided he wanted to go back to what he loved most: drawing and painting. He often stays up for hours at a time until the canvas in front of him reflects what he sees in his mind’s eye. He uses his artwork to push bigger conversations on beauty and show a representation of all people.

“Experience my Artwork, a captivating fusion of sight and sound, where the soul cries out, instruments sing, vibrant colors dance in harmony, infused with impromptu energy, and rhythms entwine with the human body in a symphony of formality, and expression. It’s a captivating journey for all who seek to see and hear beauty within.” -Samson Tonton

The Maurice C. La Grua Center opened its doors in 2008 in Stonington Borough and has evolved into a non-profit cultural center offering a wide variety of concerts, art exhibitions, and speakers in a welcoming, acoustically distinctive space flooded with natural light and vaulted ceilings. La Grua Center is also a beautiful venue for classes, meetings, celebrations, and other community activities.
