NEW YORK.- Sotheby’s held its sale of Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, the first of the Asian sales in New York , which brought $7,657,218 and many outstanding prices for works of art, such as cloisonné and rhinoceros horns, and furniture.

Nicolas Chow, Worldwide Head of Sotheby’s Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art department, and Mee-Seen Loong, senior specialist overseeing the sale in New York, said: “In today’s sale we saw the prevailing taste for greatworks of scholarly or Imperial importance with good provenance. We were particularly pleased with the results of the first session, which included outstanding prices for works of art, such as cloisonné and rhinoceros horns, and furniture.”

A Magnificent Pair of Cloisonne and Gilt Bronze 'Hehe' Twin Boys, Qing dynasty, Kangxi period sold for $1,129,000. A Superb Inlaid Gilt-Bronze ‘Mythical Beast’ Censer, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period sold for $714,600. A Rare and Magnificent Early Yaozhou' Relief-Carved 'Surprise' Ewer, Northern Song dynasty sold for $669,800.
