Brazilian Authorities Believe Chef Masterminded Picasso Theft
Pablo Picasso, Portrait of Suzanne Bloch.

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL.-Brazilian authorities have announced that Moisés De Lima Sobrinho is allegedly masterminded the theft of the Picasso and the Portinari works from the Sao Paulo Museum of Art. Moisés De Lima Sobrinho, 25, is a chef that appears in a regional television channel. The theft took place on December 20 and the security cameras taped the theft. Security has improved in the museum after the theft. Pablo Picasso’s "Portrait of Suzanne Bloch" is estimated to be worth 50 million dollars, and "The Coffee Worker" by Brazil's Candido Portinari, estimated at nearly six million dollars.

Moisés De Lima Sobrinho has disappeared and last year traveled to Spain to get price information on several works of art in different museums of Madrid. Authorities believe he also wanted to contact European art collectors for a possible sale.
