CHATTANOOGA, TN.-The Hunter Museum of American Art presents Ecstasy: The Mystical Landscapes of Walter Anderson, on view through June 8. Walter Anderson painted jewel-like, expressionistic watercolors of his beloved Mississippi Gulf Coast. Like Charles Burchfield, Anderson worked outside the conventions of the art world in a style that expressed his intense love for and close observation of the natural world. Ecstasy, the title of this exhibition, certainly captures Anderson's love for nature and the intensity with which he painted his vision.
