PARIS.— Artello, the new Paris auction house founded by auctioneer Élodie Beriola and Augustin Lepage, made a confident debut at Hôtel Drouot on June 30, 2026, with its inaugural sale, “Parisian Collections & Design,” achieving a total of €581,269, including fees.

The auction was led by the Micheau Collection, assembled by a Parisian family, and attracted strong bidding both in the room and online. While one of the expected highlights was César’s bronze Buste aux jambes fines, which sold for €63,700, the day’s real surprise came from a far more modestly estimated work: Charles Artus’s stone Écureuil. Estimated at just €1,000 to €1,500, the sculpture climbed dramatically to €59,800, becoming one of the sale’s standout results.

Another strong performance came from Alina Szapocznikow’s Ventre blanc, a trial proof estimated at €5,000 to €7,000, which reached €45,500. The result confirmed the appetite for distinctive works with strong provenance and fresh market visibility.

“We are delighted with the results of this inaugural sale and very pleased with the public’s response,” said Élodie Beriola, founder and auctioneer of Artello. She added that the strong participation from bidders in the saleroom, online and by telephone showed that the new house’s ambition had found “a genuine echo among collectors.”

Among the strongest results from the Micheau Collection were Geer Van Velde, whose work sold for €31,200, and another sculpture by Charles Artus, Moineau, which achieved €14,040.

The sale also included works from other collections, with Oscar Gauthier reaching €14,560, André Hambourg selling for €13,000, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Scrivania mod. 617 desk bringing €12,935. A work by Pablo Picasso sold for €10,400, while Shao Fan’s Jie chair reached €10,140.

With several lots far exceeding their estimates, Artello’s first auction gave the new house a promising start in the Paris market, positioning it as a fresh name to watch among collectors seeking private collections, modern art and design.

Prices include buyer’s premium. The buyer’s commission was 30%. Full catalogue and results are available on Drouot and Artello Enchères.
