LONDON.- Ben Brown Fine Arts announced that Nabil Nahas has been selected to represent Lebanon at the 61st edition of La Biennale di Venezia, running from 9 May to 22 November 2026. Commissioned and curated by Nada Ghandour and produced in collaboration with the Lebanese Visual Art Association (LVAA), this marks a significant milestone in Nahas’s distinguished career. A defining figure in Lebanese contemporary art, his practice unites abstraction and figuration in luminous works that echo the rhythms of nature and the vastness of the cosmos. Born in Beirut in 1949, Nahas makes paintings that seem to breathe, bloom and multiply, their surfaces dense with coral-like textures and saturated colour. Drawn to the intricate geometries of the natural world –fractal forms, tidal rhythms, marine organisms – he builds sculptural compositions that hover between abstraction and life. Palm trees, cedars, and starfish recur like memories, rooted in the landscapes of his childhood ... More

Although Rothenberg’s imagery evolved significantly throughout her career, certain key elements in the structure of her compositions remained constant. Dynamic, ... More

His work will be included in our upcoming presentation at Art Basel in Switzerland, and his debut solo exhibition with the gallery will open in January 2026 at our Los Angeles location. SITE Santa Fe in New Mexico will present a solo exhibition in 2026 of the artist's work. Sayre Gomez (b. 1982, Chicago) creates paintings and sculptures whose photorealistic virtuosity and scrupulous attention to detail reveal an unvarnished Los Angeles rarely seen in popular imagery. In their deep attunement to the incongruities and disparities visible on the streets of Los Angeles, Gomez’s immersive landscapes serve as local stand-ins for broader American realities. Abandoned cars, banal signage, neglected architecture, and other oft-overlooked corners become, through the artist’s “paint what you know” approach, ... More

Madeline Peckenpaugh's "Chosen Places" opens, blurring lines between reality and abstraction
NEW YORK, NY.- Alexander Berggruen presents Madeline Peckenpaugh: Chosen Places. This exhibition will open Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Madeline Peckenpaugh’s paintings invite and destabilize a viewer’s culturally trained perception of the landscape to explore nature, memory, and the self. There is a reconciliation of opposites: the deep space of the real world and the flat space of the canvas. She shifts the scale of everyday elements, interlaces forms, and renders them in single tones and fluctuating textures. Through iterations of adding, blurring, and scraping paint to veil and expose prior layers, Peckenpaugh creates scenes that oscillate between landscape and abstraction, challenging a viewer’s sense of reality. She creates environments where human gesture and the spontaneity of the material come together. In her new body of work in Chosen Places, her gestures have become ... More
