LITTLE ROCK, AR.- In conjunction with the monumental exhibition World of the Pharaohs: Treasures of Egypt Revealed, on view September 25, 2009 July 5, 2010, the
Arkansas Arts Center will offer Teacher Academies on July 25, August 1, August 9, September 26, October 3 and October 17, 2009.
This one-day teacher academy will inform and inspire educators with hands-on, immersive lesson plans utilizing frameworks in Social Studies, Visual Arts, World History, Math, Science and Language Arts. These lesson plans were designed using Arkansas Department of Education Frameworks, as well as the expertise of internationally acclaimed Egyptologist, William Peck. Lesson plans from the academy can be easily modified to fit any ancient culture.
Teachers will receive the Ancient Egyptian Educator Guide for the Classroom which includes lesson plans, classroom activities, re-produceables for the classroom, an Ancient Egyptian time line poster and more. Teachers will earn CEU credits for attending this Academy. The Academy also fulfills the ADE requirements for teacher inservice hours.

Presented by the Arkansas Arts Center in cooperation with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, World of the Pharaohs: Treasures of Egypt Revealed explores the longvanished world of ancient Egypt through art and artifacts that span over 3,000 years of dynastic history. More than 200 magnificent objects, including mummies, a majestic colossus of Ramses the Great, Egyptian art, jewelry, statues, sculptures and funerary artifacts, illustrate the life and art of ancient Egypt.
