SAINT LOUIS, MO.- The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis announced
the three award recipients of the Great Rivers Biennial 2010. Designed to recognize artistic talent in the greater St. Louis metro area, the Great Rivers Biennial program, funded generously by the Gateway Foundation, provides each selected artist with a $20,000 cash award. In addition to the award sum, each of the three winning artists will be given an exhibition at the Contemporary in the summer of 2010. Three distinguished jurors from around the United States selected the three artists from more than 235 submissions representing a wide range of media including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, video, and new-media. The Great Rivers Biennial 2010 exhibition will open at the Contemporary on April 30, 2010 and will run through August 8, 2010.

THE 2010 WINNERS
Martin Brief
Born and raised in Chicago, Martin Brief is an artist whose recent work explores the way that language, thought, and information relate to contemporary culture and the creation of self. Brief’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally, including exhibitions in New York, Paris, Zurich, Washington, D.C., and Chicago. In addition, his work is in several public collections, including those of the Art Institute of Chicago, Joan Flasch Artist Book Collection, the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona, and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts in Honolulu, Hawaii. Martin currently lives and works in St. Louis and is an Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University.

Sarah Frost
Sarah Frost received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture and Painting from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Washington University in St. Louis. Selected recent exhibitions include: Built, Laumeier Sculpture Park, St. Louis; Our Commodity, Regional Arts Commission, St. Louis; Sarah Frost: Recent Sculpture, Foundry Art Centre, St. Charles, MO; Sarah Frost, Mad Art Gallery, St. Louis; Third Annual Juried Exhibition, The Jacoby Arts Center, Alton, IL; Southern Illinois Artists Open Competition, Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, Mt. Vernon, IL; and Art St. Louis XXII, the Exhibition, Art St. Louis, St. Louis. Frost has received numerous local awards and grants, including the Riverfront Times’ Visual Arts Mastermind award in 2008, and grants from Arts in Transit and the Missouri Arts Council. She currently works as a scenic artist for local theaters, as a graphic designer, and also maintains a studio in St. Louis.

Cameron Fuller
Cameron Fuller was born and raised in Washington State. He studied printmaking at San Francisco State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in 2005. In 2007 he received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis. His installations have been shown at Fort Gondo, White Flag Projects, Maps Contemporary Art Space, and Gallery 210 in St. Louis and at La Esquina in New York. In addition to his personal work, Fuller also has collaborated since 2008 on installations with Sarah Paulsen at Laumeier Sculpture Park, St. Louis; Open Lot, St. Louis; The Foundry Art Centre, St. Charles, MO; and Saint Charles Community College, St. Charles, MO.
