NEW YORK, NY.- The Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum (known as The Noguchi Museum) has announced the election of David D. Holbrook as Chairman of its Board of Trustees at its Annual Meeting in May. Mr. Holbrook has been a Trustee of the Museum and member of its executive committee since 2001. He succeeds Samuel Sachs II, who has led the Board since 2005 and will continue to serve as a Museum Trustee.

Noguchi Museum Director Jenny Dixon stated, “We are delighted that David Holbrook has agreed to serve as the next Chairman of our Board of Trustees. David, who has served the Museum with distinction as Treasurer and a member of its executive committee, brings to his new role a deep commitment to the Museum’s programs and audiences, as well as a wide-ranging knowledge of New York City’s cultural institutions. He follows the stellar term of Sam Sachs, whose vision and dedication were crucial to the Museum’s many recent successes, including the completion of its renovation.”

Mr. Holbrook said, “It is an honor to follow Sam Sachs as Chairman of The Noguchi Museum. I look forward to working with my fellow newly-elected officers, Vice Chairman and Treasurer Peter Jachym and Secretary Malcolm Nolen, as well as with the rest of the Board and the Museum’s staff. Together we will ensure that the institution continues to grow and to serve a large and diverse audience, while remaining true to Noguchi’s vision for this unique and beautiful place.”

Mr. Holbrook, who was an executive in Marsh & McLennan Companies’ risk and insurance-services business, is an active and prominent participant in the cultural life of New York. His current affiliations with arts institutions include serving as a Trustee of both the Theatre Development Fund (since 1983), where he served two terms as Chairman, and of the Joyce Theater Foundation (since 1994), where he was Chairman for eight years and is currently Honorary Chairman. He is a former Trustee of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and presently serves on its Advisory Board. Mr. Holbrook is also a Trustee of Continuum Health Partners.

David Holbrook was born in 1938 in New York City. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. He lives in New York City.
