BOSTON, MASS.- RR Auction presents a collection of photographs originating from the jazz fan club, 'The Hot Club of Belgium’ this January.

The Hot Club of Belgium was founded in 1939 by Willy De Cort, Albert Bettonville, Carlos de Radzitzky, and others, which operated until the mid-1960s.

The “Willy” and “Johnny” that these photos are inscribed to may very well be the founder, Willy De Cort, and Johnny Dover, a Belgian clarinetist and saxophonist who once won the club’s award for best clarinet player.

Featured is a fantastic lineup of some of the greatest names of the jazz age—from Louis Armstrong to Lester Young, and many icons in between.

Highlights include:

• The Jazz Messengers vintage glossy photo signed by Art Blakey, Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Walter Davis Jr., and Jymie Merritt. The influential jazz combo existed for over thirty-five years beginning in the early 1950s as a collective, and ending when longtime leader and founding drummer Art Blakey died in 1990.

• Ella Fitzgerald glamorous vintage glossy Bruno of Hollywood publicity photo signed and inscribed in fountain pen. American jazz singer (1917-1996) who is often referred to as the 'First Lady of Song.' Her musical collaborations with Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and The Ink Spots did much for her popularity, which included songs like 'Dream a Little Dream of Me,' 'Cheek to Cheek,' and 'It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing).

• Miles Davis publicity photo of a young Davis holding his trumpet by James J. Kriegsmann, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen. A magnificent early signed photo of the jazz virtuoso—signed images of Davis at the start of his legendary career are seldom offered and highly desirable.

• Louis Armstrong glossy publicity photo of the Jazz legend seated and playing his trumpet, signed and inscribed in blue felt tip. American trumpeter, composer, singer and occasional actor (1901-1971) who was one of the most influential figures in jazz.

• Lester Young vintage glossy publicity photo of Young wearing a striped suit and smiling into the camera, signed and inscribed in fountain pen. American musician (1909-1959) acclaimed as one of the greatest tenor sax and clarinet players in the history of jazz.

• Duke Ellington vintage glossy photo with a bright smile and wearing a patterned coat, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen. American composer, pianist, and bandleader of a jazz orchestra, (1899-1974) which he led from 1923 until his death in a career spanning over fifty years.

• Dave Brubeck vintage glossy half-length photo of Brubeck playing the piano, signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen. American jazz composer, pianist and band leader (1920-2012) who is one of the foremost exponents of cool jazz. He is best known for the jazz standards 'In Your Own Sweet Way and 'The Duke,' and for the top-selling album, Time Out.

The Fine Autographs and Artifacts from RR Auction began on December 15 and will conclude on January 10.
