FIGUERES.- The Dalí Foundation announced that the three Dalí Museums received 1,444,853 visitors in 2017. This represents an increase of 5.56% compared to year 2016.

In detail, this amount corresponds to:

• Dalí Theatre-Museum and Dalí·Jewels gallery, Figueres: 1,207,149 visitors, this represents an increase of 6.43% compared to year 2016.

• Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol: 88,341 visitors, it represents an increase of 2.85% compared to year 2016.

• Salvador Dalí House-Museum in Portlligat: 149,363 visitors, this represents an increase of 0.50% compared to year 2016.

The total amount of visitors in 2017 is higher than 2016 despite a decrease in October, November and December. The increase was already noticeable in January 2017. We experimented a recovery of Russian and Italian visitors. The number of people coming from the United States continues to grow.

We celebrated temporary exhibitions in two of the Dalí Museums. At the Dalí Theatre-Museum, we had three shows: Variants of Dalí’s Mustache, Dalí. Stereoscopies. Painting in three dimensions and Salvador Dalí, apprentice painter. At Gala’s Castle we hold Salvador Dalí, Gala, Ricardo Sans.

Exhibitions abroad welcome important amounts of visitors. Salvador Dalí. Surrealist and Classicist at Fabergé Museum in Saint Petersburg (Russia) closed with 242,000 visitors; Dalí. Il Sogno del Cassico in Pisa (Italy) welcome 95,000 people and Dalí/Duchamp at the Royal Academy of Arts in London just closed with a big success.

The Dalí Foundation regards these figures as very positive since they represent an ongoing interest for the Dali centres, even in a complex conjuncture. The Foundation keeps on committing to temporary exhibitions in its museums and in museums around the world.
