BOSTON, MASS.- Matthew Teitelbaum, Ann and Graham Gund Director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, announced that Cameran Mason has been appointed Chief Development Officer, effective July 9, 2018. Mason will work closely with the Director and the MFA’s Leadership Team to set Museum-wide strategies and priorities in accordance with MFA 2020—the Museum’s visitor-focused Strategic Plan. She will be responsible for institutional advancement through the direction and management of all areas of development and board relations, including fundraising, gifts of art, donor stewardship, future capital campaigns and governance. Most recently, Mason served as Vice President for Resources and Public Affairs at Wellesley College, where she led the planning and execution of Wellesley’s $500 million “Campaign to Advance the Wellesley Effect.”

“At an important moment in the MFA’s history, as we seek to become an outward-facing institution committed to inclusion, collaborating generously and welcoming warmly, I am pleased that Cameran Mason will be joining us as Chief Development Officer,” said Teitelbaum. “She is thoughtful about the role of the arts in contemporary life and committed to creating strong communities of advocates for public-facing institutions. I have watched with admiration her many successes at Wellesley, gracefully enriching the lives of generations of students and faculty, and I look forward to Cameran joining us at the MFA as both a leader and a colleague.”

In her role at the MFA, Mason will manage a team that is collectively responsible for building lasting relationships with a diverse group of donors and constituents, including individuals, foundations, corporations and government organizations, both national and international. She will serve as a key institutional liaison between and among Board leadership, Trustees and Advisors, as well as support a variety of Board committees, working groups and task forces.

Over the course of a decade at Wellesley, her alma mater, Mason was part of the President’s senior staff and the Campus Renewal Executive Committee. In addition to leading the College’s most recent public campaign and securing the largest gift in its history, Mason regularly engaged with top donors and alumnae, and spearheaded efforts to move towards an integrated team of development, public affairs, alumnae affairs and career education professionals. Under her leadership, Wellesley received the 2017 CASE Educational Fundraising Award for Overall Performance, an honor given to “superior fundraising programs at educational institutions across the country.”

Prior to joining Wellesley, Mason was Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Barnard College (New York); and Associate Vice President for Development and University Relations and Director of Campaign Resources at Fordham University (New York). She received a Master’s in Public Affairs from Princeton University, and her Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College.
