NEW YORK, NY.- Nahmad Contemporary celebrates five years with an anniversary exhibition, Five Years at Nahmad Contemporary, on view May 1–June 9, 2018. Chronicling the exhibitions mounted since the gallery's founding in 2013, this presentation features 20 artworks by some of the most influential artists of our era, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Daniel Buren, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Wade Guyton, Hans Hartung, Joan Miró, Gustave Moreau, Albert Oehlen, Sigmar Polke, Richard Prince, Mark Rothko, Egon Schiele, Rudolf Stingel, Antoni Tàpies, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, and Christopher Wool. A fully illustrated publication accompanies the presentation.

Five Years at Nahmad Contemporary is an homage to the artists, lenders, and friends who have both inspired and shaped the gallery. Each of the selected masterpieces summon one of the gallery’s past exhibitions, from single-artist presentations to thematic and cross-generational shows. Whether centering on a series within an artist’s oeuvre—such as Joan Miró’s late works, Sigmar Polke’s fabric paintings, and Richard Prince’s monochromatic jokes—or presenting artists in dialogue with one another—such as Egon Schiele with Cy Twombly and Jean-Michel Basquiat, or Andy Warhol together with Christopher Wool and Wade Guyton—the exhibitions have illuminated exceptional moments in art history that have altered the course of artistic production.

Over five years, Nahmad Contemporary has sought innovative and historically significant ways to explore the achievements of modern and contemporary artists. As the gallery looks to the future, its founding principles persevere through exhibitions, such as this anniversary presentation, that provide the opportunity for newfound perspectives and broadened appreciation for extraordinary works of art.
