HONG KONG.- Le French May Arts Festival and Paris Aéroport jointly present an international premiere of contemporary exhibition by renowned French sculptor Nathalie Decoster – Consciousness - A Monumental Sculpture. The exhibition runs from 9 May to 27 May 2018.

For the third consecutive year, Le French May and Paris Aéroport work together in bringing world-class art to Hong Kong. More importantly, they promote talented French artists in Hong Kong and Asia.

Specially commissioned by Paris Aéroport, Nathalie Decoster’s latest creation, Consciousness, together with interactive displays and photographs, is created to “bring people closer to each other” and allow them to momentarily escape the anxieties of daily life – with an “invitation to dream and reflect on the passing of time and man’s frailty”.

Small human figures are precariously positioned inside large hoops, cubes and other geometric shapes made of diverse materials like iron, concrete and mattress springs. Like her previous masterpiece “Messengers”, the figures are a universal statement to everyone living in big cities – and what she calls a “true declaration of love to humanity”.

After its Hong Kong premiere, the sculpture will be permanently showcased in Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, where Paris Aéroport is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its dedicated art museum Espace Musées in 2018. Espace Musées situates in Hall M of Terminal 2E, a brand new hall considered as one of Europe’s most stunning boarding halls.

Nathalie Decoster specialises in architectural design, and her creations showcase recognisation of human figures. Of different sizes and postures, these figures are seen as the ‘messengers’ of the artist. The inspiration of Decoster’s works takes root from the idea of time, how human perceive its passing and the wisdom and mindfulness that come with it. Her work has been shown in Canada, Brazil, the United States, Austria, Italy, Great Britain, France and elsewhere over a career that has spanned over 20 years.

Two of Decoster’s works have been acquired and showcased in Paris Charles de Gaulle airport since 2014. Consciousness, specially designed for Le French May 2018, will be admitted into the collection this year after its showcase in Pacific Place, Hong Kong
