MONTREAL. CANADA.- The Canadian Centre for Architecture’s annual ball, that underlined the fifteenth anniversary of the CCA building construction enabled the institution to collect more than half a million dollars yesterday. This Celebration of architecture, under the theme architecture + circus, was under the honorary patronage of Mr. Guy Laliberté, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Cirque du Soleil. 750 people from the world of art, circus, business , architecture and construction showed their enthusiasm for the CCA at this memorable event.
The red carpet was rolled out in front of the CCA’s south façade, on René-Lévesque Boulevard. Guests had the opportunity to admire pieces inspired by the circus (sculptures, models, paintings…) generously lent to CCA by TOHU, la Cité des arts du cirque. They then entered the big top in Baile Park where a five-course dinner was offered. They were marvelled at spectacular performances by circus artists.
Phyllis Lambert, Founding Director and Chair of the Board of Trustees, said it was that “the participation to this celebration and the participation of all these architects, researchers, landscape architects, urban planners, engineers and building contractors, as well as representatives from the arts, the circus and business communities, are crucial in to keep the CCA a lively forum for debate, research, and the exchange of ideas about architecture, the built environment and their role in society. Their support will enable the CCA to its mission by offering, among other projects, dynamic exhibitions, as well as various programs on architecture and urban planning to families and schools from all levels.”
Thanks to Montrealers unfailing support, the CCA is certain to continue to represent its community’s dynamism.
