NEW YORK, NY.- Phillips announced the appointment of Jeannette van Campenhout as a Specialist in 20th Century & Contemporary Art and Latin American Art, based in New York. The appointment reflects the extraordinary growth of Phillips Latin American Art initiatives and its increasing importance to the companys global growth strategy.
Ms. van Campenhout joins Phillips after running her own art advisory business for the last seven years, advising prominent collectors in the U.S. and Latin America about their collections and acquisition strategy. She also worked at Pinta, the Contemporary Latin America Art Fair as a Director, overseeing the fairs high profile VIP program aimed at generating awareness of Latin American Art. She served as a Partner at Sokoloff + Associates, advising clients in Latin America and Europe, and worked for Christies as an Associate Vice President and Specialist in Latin American Art.
We are delighted Jeannette is joining Phillips and helping us expand our reach in Latin American Art, an increasingly important focus of the contemporary art market, said Scott Nussbaum, Head of 20th Century & Contemporary Art, New York. With her significant experience and passion for engaging with collectors, Jeannette is a strategic addition to our team as we continue to increase our market share in Latin American Art.
Phillips has created a broader international platform to sell Latin American Art, transcending traditional categories and a regional model by breaking down barriers between Latin American and Contemporary Art. The team has made a concerted effort to promote living artists and female artists on an international scale, resulting in a number of significant milestones such as record-breaking sales for Carmen Herrera, Doris Salcedo and Olga de Amaral.
In her new role, Ms. van Campenhout will work closely with the entire 20th Century & Contemporary Art team and partner with Kaeli Deane, Head of Latin American Art; Vivian Pfeiffer, Head of Business Development and Deputy Chairman, Americas; Cândida Sodré, Regional Director in Brazil; Cecilia Laffan, Regional Director for Mexico; and Valentina Garcia, Specialist, Latin American Art, Miami, to continue the expansion of this rapidly growing field.
Phillips recently hosted significant exhibitions of prominent Latin American artists Carlos Cruz-Diez and Wilfredo Lam in its galleries.
