WASHINGTON, DC.- The Potomack Company, a Washington, DC, area auction gallery noted for the expertise of its specialists, is now offering several works by notable American artists via private sale as well as a special Meiji-period censer.
A rare large-scale impressionist painting by American artist George Hitchcock (1850-1913), The Return of Persephone, circa 1906, is among inventory for sale privately by Potomack. Hitchcock was considered one of the finest painters of his day in America and Europe.
Potomack is also offering a work by another important American impressionist, Guy Carleton Wiggins (1883-1962). Famous for his snowy scenes of New York City, Wiggins work is typified in 5th Ave. at 55th Street Looking North.
