DALLAS, TX.- Heritage Auctions’ Urban Art Auction Dec. 4-5 includes such a comprehensive range among its 443 lots that the sale is being broken into four sessions. The live session will be at 11 a.m. (Central Time) Dec. 4, while internet sessions will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 4 and at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 5.

The auction will begin with a curated live session featuring the top 50 lots from a variety of disciplines, including:

RETNA Conversation Piece, 2012 (estimate: $60,000-80,000), created in acrylic, enamel and crystalline on canvas, is a powerful piece that reflects the artist’s origin as a graffiti artist, including his constructed script derived from Blackletter, Egyptian hieroglyphics, Arabic, Native American and Hebrew calligraphy. The 96-by-80-inch painting is the largest, most important and highest-estimated work by the artist ever offered at auction.

“RETNA is enormously popular among collectors,” Heritage Auctions Modern & Contemporary Art Consignment Director Taylor Curry said. “The buzz he has generated through his work with brands like Nike and Louis Vuitton, and even on the cover of a Justin Bieber album, reflects the growing number of fans and collectors who are eager to acquire his artwork.”

Mr. Brainwash Einstein (Love is the Answer), n.d. (estimate: $40,000-60,000) is a dramatic piece with a black-and-white image of Albert Einstein superimposed over a dramatic background, complete with pop culture images ranging from Mickey Mouse and Campbell’s Soup cans to colorful drips of paint. A French-born, Los Angeles-based street artist whose art credits include the cover of Madonna’s Celebration album, Mr. Brainwash’s venture into becoming an artist was boosted by encouragement from Banksy.

For the first time ever, there will be a dedicated online session for Supreme, skate decks and surfboards. This session will follow the live auction the same day, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. (Central Time).

“Building on our commitment to the art and objects of counterculture and skate culture, we are excited to offer a wide array of lifestyle collectibles by Supreme and more than 50 skate decks from a variety of brands” Curry said. “These items are highly collectible, and something for which we have seen an increase in demand for.”

Highlights include:

Created in partnership with Rawlings this Supreme X Rawlings, Baseball Glove, 2012 (estimate: $1,000-1,500) shows Supreme’s commitment to collaborating with the brands.

Supreme, Bling Gold, 2013 (estimate: $700-900), is a highly collectible skate deck created with bold lettering.

Created in the late ’60s, this Dewey Weber, Vintage Surfboard, late 1960s (estimate $1,500-2,500) is one of the iconic surfboard brands from California, and rarely found in such good condition.

The third non-floor session will feature 245 lots, including urban art and toys. In addition to artwork by Banksy, Mr. Brainwash, Shepard Fairey and Takashi Murakami, the section will also feature 150 collectible toys made by Be@rbrick, KAWS and Ron English. Highlights include:

A Banksy, Walled Off Hotel Box and Ephemera, 2017 (estimate: $1,500-2,500) features a chiseled section of wall from Bethlehem and can be purchased only at the Walled Off Hotel gift shop. The lot comes complete with a welcome letter, the invoice and a soap bar from the hotel.

KAWS, Five Years Later Companion (Glow in the Dark), 2004 includes the original packaging and is stamped to the underside of feet.

Blade Crazy -5- Takes the City, 2012 is a classic acrylic-and-spray-paint-on-canvas work by the New York graffiti artist whose real name is Steven D. Ogburn. Throughout his career, Blade painted more than 5,000 trains with his iconic imagery.

The final session, Dec. 5, will feature a series of customized Zadig & Voltiare clothing and sneakers by Miami-based artists such as Ahol Sniff Glue, Angel Garcia and Jesse Nite, among others. All the proceeds from these lots will benefit the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami. The collection, called #ZVInvasion, will be on view at an event in the Miami Design District cohosted by Whitewall magazine and Zadig & Voltaire during Art Basel Miami Beach.
