Art Collector Cheech Marin To Lecture in Miami



MIAMI, FLORIDA.- The Steven & Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture Series presents a lecture by Cheech Marin. Accomplished actor, director and art collector, Cheech Marin will speak about his extensive experience in collecting art. A multi-generational star, Marin is renowned for his work in music and animation. He recently ompleted production on Sam Shepard’s play “The Late Henry Moss” starring Sean Penn. He also co-starred in the Alfonso Arau directed black comedy Picking UpThe Pieces starring Woody Allen. Beyond his acclaimed career in motion pictures and stage performances, Marin is both a Chicano Art collector and humanitarian. Marin was the recipient of the 2000 Creative Achievement Award form the Imagen Foundation and the 1999 National Council of La Raza ALMA Community Service Award. Marin is devoted to organizations such as El Rescate and the Inner City Arts Council. Marin actively builds his collection of Chicano Art, which is the largest owned by a private citizen. The lecture will take place Friday November 12th, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at the Green Library, GL 100, Florida International University.
