SYDNEY.- Leading international auction house Bonhams has revealed highlights included in their upcoming Australia Jewels Auction that will be held in Sydney, 14 August 2019.

Bonhams is at the forefront of the international jewellery world, selling more jewellery than any other auction house with 30 auctions taking place globally throughout the year. Continuing Bonhams’ success in the Asia Pacific Jewellery market, Bonhams Australia now joins the company’s international network of auctions held in the key jewellery locations: London, New York, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.

Director Bonhams Australia, Merryn Schriever said: “Bonhams has a clear vision for Australia as an integral part of its future growth in the Asian Pacific region. We are delighted to expand our calendar to include an Australia Jewels auction in Sydney this August and the incredibly positive response we have received so far is testament to the demand for this sale.”

Speaking of the addition of the Australina sale to their international sales calendar, Jean Ghika, Bonhams Global Head of Jewellery commented: “The global reach of the Bonhams international jewellery department means we are perfectly placed to offer clients in Australia access to both the local and international market, delivering the very best results whether it be a period, modern, or multimillion dollar jewel or gemstone. I am delighted that with the reintroduction of Australian Jewellery auctions we will be able to deliver a bespoke service to our client base which is rooted in both specialist expertise coupled with the highest level of customer care.”

Last year Bonhams Australia Jewellery specialist, Fiona Frith, sold an extremely rare fancy intense blue diamond ring for an Australian family in Hong Kong achieving the top lot for that auction – AU$866,000

Australian Jewellery Specialist, Fiona Frith comments: “Of all the markets, Jewellery is the one most connected to our ideas of romance and love. It also happens to be one of the world’s largest auction markets with phenomenal growth opportunities. The addition of an Australian sale to the Bonhams calendar is timely and in demand. We look forward to continuing to give our vendors access to international markets, whilst building a special event for local collectors.”
