MADRID, SPAIN.- The Consumer company has announced the results of a study that states that the admission prices for the Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofia Museum (three euros each) are among the cheapest in a list of top twenty museums in Spain. The Prado Museum director Miguel Zugaza stated last week in a radio interview at Antena 3: It can be said that the Prado is free. Of the two million visitors, more than half get in free. All of these have to be brought into line.
Although the board is the one that proposes an increase in the admission price, it is the Ministry of Culture that decides this and when. In the last congressional session the PP (Popular Party) proposed a 50% increase, but it finally was not approved.
The study shows that the most expensive admission price is the Guggenheim Bilbaos at 12 euros. The most visited museums are the Prado with 2.3 million, Reina Sofia with 1.4 million, and the Museo Picasso of Barcelona with 1,02 million.
