PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA.- The Museum of American Heritage presents "Brains to Bytes: The Evolution of Information Storage", on view through May 26, 2002. The ways people store information have always been tightly interwoven with culture and lifestyle. From brains to books to bits and bytes, the Museum of American Heritage offers a look at how memories - organic, mechanical, and electronic - have evolved in "Brains to Bytes - The Evolution of Information Storage". What do Stonehenge, sundials and slide rules share in common? What does Jacquard's loom have to do with the U.S. Census? What did Bing Crosby have to do with information storage? How does all that data get stored in computers? The exhibit illustrates storage technologies - past, present and future - and their influence (sometimes unexpected) on our lives. Discover the key contributions of Bay Area industry and residents. And maybe find a few of your own creations on display.
