ARLINGTON, TEXAS.- The Arlington Museum of Art announces its annual art auction exhibition and gala SHINE 2005: Moonglow. The SHINE 2005: Moonglow exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, January 15 and continues through 5 pm on Saturday February 5, when the museum closes to prepare for the auction and gala. The exhibition and the gala showcase a broad range of art work by Texas artists in media including painting, sculpture, photography and works on paper. The gala draws more than 350 art lovers and supporters annually from Arlington and across the Metroplex, and there is sure to be an item that will appeal to every guest.
The live auction portion of the evening-always a high point-will focus on 18 art works by outstanding Texas artists. Bidding on silent auction art works begins at the Members' Preview Party on January 14 and continues through the exhibition's three week run, concluding the night of the SHINE! gala on February 5. Bidders do not have to be present at auction to secure the winning bid on an item (but it certainly helps).
The event is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with area artists and fellow art supporters, and to start or grow your collection of contemporary Texas art. The evening's pleasures will include special vodka martinis as well as wine and beer courtesy of Glazer's Distributors, live music by Dave Karnes Trio, a buffet dinner hosted by Steak and Ale and Maddison Events and "moonglow" special event lighting by AirStar Space Lighting. For the first time this year, the live auction will be conducted by Lisa Cavanaugh of Christie's Auction House. The 2005 raffle item will be round-trip air transportation for two on Southwest Airlines between any two cities on Southwest's system.
The SHINE! Moonglow auction and gala is Saturday, February 5, 2005. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Individual tickets are $125 for the general public, $100 for museum members. A reserved table for eight is $1000, $800 for museum members. Star-Telegram Press Pass members receive the museum member's price. Tickets to the SHINE! gala on February 5 include admission to the Preview Party on Friday, January 14th held from 6-9 pm.
The AMA's Annual SHINE! Art Auction and Gala remains the museum's most important fundraiser, generating a quarter of the museum' annual operating dollars. All proceeds from the event go to support programs, exhibitions and hard-to-fund items including staff salaries, at the museum.
Attendance is limited to the first 350 to respond. Please note that this event consistently sells out. No tickets will be sold at the door. For more information or to purchase a ticket, please call the Arlington Museum of Art at (817) 275-4600 or reach us via email at ama@arlingtonmuseum.org.
