The Warhol Celebrates Renaming of Bridge Name |
PITTSBURGH, PA.- The Warhol will celebrate the renaming of Pittsburgh's Seventh Street Bridge to the “Andy Warhol Bridge” on Friday, March 18, 2005. A daylong event will take place to celebrate the renaming of the Seventh Street Bridge in honor of Pittsburgh native, Andy Warhol. The celebration will begin with a dedication ceremony at the bridge on the North Shore at 10 a.m. and continue through the day with hands-on art activities, performances, film screenings and more.
Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and Allegheny County Council recently approved a resolution to rename Pittsburgh’s Seventh Street Bridge to the “Andy Warhol Bridge.” One of three similarly designed “Sister Bridges” that connect Downtown Pittsburgh to the North Shore, the bridge was chosen because of its proximity to The Andy Warhol Museum. The bridge renaming coincides with the Museum’s 10th anniversary year.
