Andrew Dunnill - Extractions at The Art Gallery |

|
COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND.- The Art Gallery at the University of Maryland presents Andrew Dunnill - Extractions, through May 20, 2005. Andrew Dunnill: Extractions highlights the work of Maryland alumnus and British native Andrew Dunnill. He is known for his monumental, cast iron and steel sculptures that are exhibited in parks throughout the United States. Dunnill's work is inspired by industrial America, and his sculpture reflects the rusted implements of old factories and shipyards that he witnessed in New York.
The sculpture exhibited in Andrew Dunnill: Extractions includes several of his newest works, ranging in size from the diminutive to colossal. Visitors will be able to see a wide variety of the artist's works in one place in the Art Gallery. The giant "Nocturne" dominates the back end of the gallery while other large works such as "Bellows" and "Twinkle Toes" fill the front space. Accompanying the major works are several smaller sculptures, including two that hang on the wall.
Andrew Dunnill: Extractions also features several of the artist's drawings, which illustrate how Dunnill works out compositions on paper before sculpting in metal.
