HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA.-The Huntsville Museum of Art presents Local Color, on view through October 23. This summer the Museum will present an exhibition of works by artists who bring Local Color to our community. These artists are people who do things differently: sometimes quirky, often beautiful, and occasionally extraordinary. Their vision, talent, and stories, as told through art, make Huntsville special. Local Color will showcase some of the unique talents who live among us. Museum visitors will have the chance to see the world through the artists’ eyes.

This group show will feature more than 10 artists who have been working in the Tennessee Valley for years but have not had significant exposure at the Museum as well as artists who are just coming onto the local arts scene.

The pieces included in Local Color will be as diverse as the artists, ranging from the traditional to avant-garde. The choice of materials used to make these works of art will be varied. Painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking will be represented.

This exciting exhibition will provide an opportunity for Museum patrons to become familiar with the artists to watch in the future. It will also bring together varied and sometimes isolated artists. The Museum will host a Gallery Walk on Sunday, July 31, at 2 p.m. Artists featured in the exhibition will discuss their individual works. A reception in honor of all the artists represented in the exhibition will follow the Gallery Walk in the Beck Meeting Room. The exhibition will be on view through
October 23.
