HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA.-The Art Gallery of Hamilton presents Heaven and Earth Unveiled: European Treasures from the Tanenbaum Collection, on view through May 28, 2006. Presented for the first time, this outstanding collection of nineteenth-century European art was donated to the AGH by Joey and Toby Tanenbaum in 2002. Consisting of over 200 paintings and sculptures by a number of different artists from France and other countries, the collection makes the Gallery a centre for the enjoyment and study of nineteenth-century art, highlighting the richness and diversity of a period that witnessed many new and profound developments in art, culture, and society. This project has been made possible in part through a contribution from the Museums Assistance Program, Department of Canadian Heritage.
