Danish Museum of Art and Design.

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK.-A man who worked at the Danish Museum of Art and Design until 2002 has been charged with stealing 100 exhibits from this museum with a value of around one million Kroner. The objects were apparently stolen between 1999 and 2002, when he worked at this museum. According to a museum spokeswoman the man stole porcelain, glass and metal items of pocket-size. The name of the man was not released as Danish law does not allow this information to be published.
The Danish Museum of Decorative Art is housed in one of Copenhagen's most beautiful examples of rococo architecture: the former Royal Frederiks Hospital. The building was erected under the reign of King Frederick V during the period 1752-57 on the basis of designs by the architects Niels Eigtved and Lauritz de Thurah. In the early 1920s the building was renovated and refitted for museum purposes by the architects Ivar Bentsen and Kaare Klint, and in 1926 the museum re-opened at its new domicile.
