EINDHOVEN.-The Mayor and Aldermen of the Eindhoven City Council are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Ulrike Erbslöh as the deputy director of the Van Abbemuseum. She succeeds Frank Lubbers, who will leave his current positions on 1 June and work as a freelance curator and consultant.
The appointment of Erbslöh marks a reorganisation in the division of responsibility within the management of the museum. Erbslöh will be responsible for steering the departments of external relations and general and technical services, as well as acting as financial controller. The museums artistic programme will be guided directly by the museums director Charles Esche.
Ulrike Erbslöh, born in Cologne in 1966, will commence some of her duties in June and will take up her full-time appointment with the Van Abbemuseum on 1 July. With a business economics background, Erbslöh has always chosen to pursue a career in the arts, culture and media sectors, during which time she has developed and carried out a variety of international projects. As business director of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 1999 she took on the challenge to reposition the oldest and most prestigious festival for the short film in the world. Since 2004 she has worked as a freelance consultant for art and cultural institutes and in this capacity divided her time between Cologne and Amsterdam.
