NEW YORK.- Sketches of Frank Gehry by Sidney Pollack opens this weekend in New York. The documentary took over five years to make and features footage of many of Gehry’s major works (Guggenheim Bilbao, Disney Concert Hall, Gehry Residence, Fred & Ginger in Prague, DG Bank in Berlin, etc.), as well as conversations between the two who have been friends a long time. To capture the sketch quality in the documentary, Pollack uses a combination of film and Mini DV as his media. Spending countless hours in Gehry´s studio, on building sites, and his home, this unobtrusive and quiet shooting style has captured, for the first time, the essence of Gehry´s unique architectural process, and his shy and elusive personality.
