TURCOING, FRANCE.- Le Fresnoy National Studio of Contemporary Arts presents Panorama 7 Our Better World, on view through July 14, 2006. The exhibition was curated by Philippe Dagen. “What world are we talking about? About today's world, our everyday, our ever so modern society, so technical, so marvelously full of inventions which fascinate and mislead – digital images, memory capacity of machines, programs to make life more comfortable and more easily watched over.

In the exhibition "Our better world", all these elements are recognizable, sometimes very visible, sometimes just alluded to, sometimes hardly visible, just a trace. The works presented are excerpts from our life, our fears, our past and our dreams. They take the form of images, objects, devices. Sometimes they tell stories and sometimes they imply them. They work by surprise or shock, by insinuation or more discreetly. They are either strangely familiar or quite disconcerting. They address our vision and hearing and often invite the body to join in. There are all types, from documentary to fable, from reconstruction to symbol. And "our better world" is always present.” - Philippe Dagen, curator.
