Frank Lloyd Wright's "Living City" In Lisbon

LISBON, PORTUGAL.- Considered as one of the founders of modern architecture, the American Frank Lloyd Wright is considered as one of the main contributors to this field. An exhibition entitled “Living City” is currently on view at the Cultural Center of Belém in the Portuguese capital. Developed between 1935 and 1959 as an ideal city, in this project Frank Lloyd Wright develops a theory of constructivist architectonic principles. Wright’s ideal city integrates the architecture with its surroundings, abolishing the differences between the city and the country. His architecture forms a close relationship, with its natural surroundings. His technique was very innovative, combining vanguard elements and also traditional ones.
