Hand-carved replica of the Resolute Desk, the elaborately carved oak desk used in the Oval Office. The original desk was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880, and was built from the timbers of the British Arctic Exploration ship HMS Resolute. Many presidents since Hayes have used the desk at various locations in the White House, but it was Jackie Kennedy who first brought the desk into the Oval Office in 1961 for President John F. Kennedy. Eli Wilner & Company has created six replicas of the Resolute Desk to date, including one now on display as part of the recreation of the Oval Office in the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas, and one in the collection at the Nixon Presidential Library and Museum.

NEW YORK, NY.- Eli Wilner & Company is broadening their elite offerings as master framers to meet the growing demand for on-site maintenance of museum-caliber private collections. Now, art advisors, collections managers, and registrars can provide their clientele with multi-faceted, top-tier care while avoiding excessive costs and risks related to transporting high-value artworks. From creating complex double-sided display solutions to crafting custom sculpture pedestals and restoring antique furniture, their team tackles projects that transcend framing. Wilner's expanded on-site services include:

Eli Wilner & Company is pleased to announce the expansion of their white glove services division, in response to growing demand to maintain museum-level private collections. Art advisors, collections managers, and registrars are often seeking services on behalf of their clientele that are not only white glove, but can also be completed on-site. One of Wilner’s primary specialties in this capacity is offering frame restoration services: the option to avoid the time, costs, and risks involved in transporting a high-value artwork to an off-site location is often highly desirable. These on-site restoration services can be combined with other offerings such as the fitting of paintings and full installation services, including the incorporation of picture lights and specialized security hardware options. Additionally, Wilner can facilitate coordination with their vast network of specialists in the fields of conservation of paintings, works on paper, and objects, as well as experts in textile mounting and custom metal/acrylic fabrication.

A comprehensive survey of the frames in a collection, including condition reports and treatment proposals, can be of great value to the management team in planning for artworks that are anticipated to be going out on loan, or potentially relocated to a different residence. Wilner can also provide written frame appraisals for insurance purposes.

Eli Wilner & Company’s team has also accomplished many projects well beyond the scope of picture framing. Past projects have included the creation of complex double-sided frames to allow optional viewing of a painting’s verso, involving a steel bracket system that can be wall-mounted and/or affixed to a pedestal inside an acrylic vitrine. They are also highly skilled in the production of customized sculpture pedestals, restoration and reupholstery of antique furniture, and replication of antique furniture.
