SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.- The Australian Federal Government has appointed Ros Packer, the wife of Australia’s richest man, to the council of the National Gallery of Australia. Packer is director at Channel 9 and sits on the advisory committee for Christie’s Australia. According to Rod Kemp, federal Minister for the Arts and Sport, Packer would bring "considerable business and managerial expertise to the council". The council is currently dominated by businessmen. The board now has only one seat to be filled.
