PARIS.- Christies presented two prestigious online sales of luxury handbags: Unlocking the Orange Dream: Handbags From an Important Private Collection, featuring a European private collection of 200 pieces, primarily by Hermès, and Handbags Online: The Paris Edit, offering a curated selection of Hermès bags alongside iconic pieces from other top maisons such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Dior.
Together, the two sales achieved nearly 5 million, with an impressive 98% sell-through rate, including 67% of lots surpassing high estimates. The sales attracted 532 buyers and bidders from 49 countries.
The highlight of this series was Unlocking the Orange Dream, which achieved in 2.6 million. This marked the third collection sale organized by the Handbags & Accessories department at Christies, and the second one held in Paris. It showcased the exceptional quality of the pieces and the growing global demand for high-end handbags, further solidifying Christies unique position in presenting rare collections across Europe. Additionally, Handbags Online: The Paris Edit also performed strongly, totaling 2.4 million with a 95% sell-through rate. These sales saw great success with an international audience, drawing 874 registrants and 171 first-time participants.
The strong results of these two sales, both in terms of sell-through rates and the number of registered bidders from around the globe, highlight the growing enthusiasm for exceptional handbags. They also reaffirm Christies leadership in the sale of private collections, not only for handbags but across more traditional art market categories as well," said Lucile Andreani, Head of Handbags & Accessories, Christies Europe and Middle East.
