NEW LONDON, CONNECTICUT.- The Lyman Allyn Art Museum presents "The Vision of Winslow Ames", an ongoing exhibition. Curated by Director Charles Shepard, this exhibit examines the tenure of Lyman Allyn's first director, Winslow Ames, who was known as a "live wire" with the exquisite taste and eye of a connoisseur. The Vision of Winslow Ames explores the first decade of Ames' leadership of the museum and features an array of the first objects he purchased and acquired for the museum. Under Ames' directorship, the museum received its largest gift, the bequest of Virginia Palmer.
