VERONA, ITALY.- Art Verona 06 Modern and Contemporary Art Fair opens today and will remain open through October 23. Art Verona’s aim is to show in the best possible way the breadth and quality of modern and contemporary Italian art galleries, and to be an event not to be missed by those who love art and follow the art market: collectors, art lovers, museum and foundation curators, journalists and art critics, teachers and opinion leaders. A public that is not only national but international, one that wants to discover the latest trends in the Italian market, a market having its roots in the world’s most important art history.

With its 2006 edition Art (Verona boosts its role as the main and most significant market for modern and contemporary art in tandem with the traditional fairs held in the early part of the year. This edition will increase and improve not only the number and quality of the participating galleries, but also the various aspects of its exhibiting formula and reception. A formula that, already in the first October 2005 edition, gained 142 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors. The positive judgement on the fair was unanimous, both as directly expressed by the exhibitors and visitors and by the results of the poll undertaken by Rimarko, Milan. For this year’s edition we predict a greater number of visitors and some 200 exhibiting galleries.

Art(Verona is divided into various exhibition areas each devoted to one of the great movements and trends of modern and contemporary art. Each exhibiting gallery in the various sections will show the visitor works by artists from the relevant period.
