BERLIN.- Villa Heike Berlin has opened its doors to an exhibition featuring the works of Anja Nitz and Sinta Werner, focusing on how our increasingly digital world affects our perception of space and physical connection. The show, part of the ongoing EMOP 2025 photography festival, uses glass and mirrors as metaphors for the shift in how we see and experience the world through screens.
The exhibition, titled "What Stands Between Us," addresses the impact of constant digital engagement on human interaction. Nitz's framed photographs and Werner's sculptural installations, which incorporate photographic elements, are on display together, creating a dialogue about these themes.
Anja Nitz, whose work examines the interior spaces of significant institutions, captures the underlying narratives within these environments. Her photographs, featuring places like museums, hospitals, and power plants, document how cultural values have evolved.
Sinta Werner's art delves into the interplay between two and three-dimensional spaces, questioning the lines between reality and illusion. Her installations and collages use mirrors and glass to manipulate perception, often reflecting the geometric aesthetics of modern architecture. Werner's work also explores how glass acts as a symbol of digital mediation, transforming physical spaces into virtual experiences.
Visitors to the exhibition are prompted to consider how digital technology and the constant influx of online images are altering our sense of connection and physical presence. Both artists use their respective mediums to explore the fragmentation of space and the potential loss of tangible experience in an increasingly digital world. The exhibition is currently on view as part of the EMOP 2025 festival.
