HONG KONG.- British artist Philip Colbert’s The Lobster Painter, presented by K11 Art Foundation (KAF), is on view at the iconic Promenade at K11 MUSEA during Hong Kong’s Art Week. This monumental artwork, a collaboration between the artist and Co-Museum, is a striking 7.5-metre-high steel sculpture and is a testament to KAF’s pioneering role in the creative and art industry. The renowned artist also returns to K11 MUSEA to exhibit a selection of sculptures and digital works, further extending his lobster world to Hong Kong and bringing his vibrant hyper-pop art to the community. Merging art, technology, and accessibility, Colbert’s works represent a new frontier in contemporary art that challenges the traditional boundaries of ownership and engagement.

Widely recognised for his bold neo-pop aesthetic and signature lobster alter ego, Colbert is redefining art collecting by making The Lobster Painter accessible to everyone. In partnership with Co-Museum, Colbert will launch a limited-edition special Asset-Backed Collectible (ABC) edition of The Lobster Painter , a 38-centimetre collectible figure. Each collectible will represent a shared connection to the monumental sculpture itself while, through blockchain-powered ABCs, and collectors will become co-collectors of The Lobster Painter , creating a unique, verifiable link to the large sculpture. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the collectable will be used to continue supporting the development of contemporary art through KAF’s art and culture programmes.

Philip Colbert, artist, said, “I’ve always loved the spirit of making art accessible to everyone, and in working with KAF and Co-Museum, I am excited to be presenting this iconic public sculpture in Hong Kong that will be community collected through a smaller asset-backed collectable edition. Through The Lobster Painter and all my work, I always aim to make big ambitious ideas within art more accessible and push the boundaries of art ownership and accessibility.”

To celebrate the launch of the sculpture, an exclusive kiosk pop-up has been set up from 26 – 30 March along the Promenade at K11 MUSEA, where the limited-edition ABCs is available to buy along with a keychain, print, cap and t-shirt.

As Hong Kong’s Art Month continues to be a global platform for contemporary art, The Lobster Painter adds a bold, interactive dimension to the city’s thriving art scene. This groundbreaking collaboration between Co-Museum and Philip Colbert, with support from KAF, reflects a commitment to fostering artistic dialogue and enriching the cultural landscape of Hong Kong.

Known for his ability to weave together classical references with contemporary pop culture, Colbert continues to push the boundaries of art across multiple mediums. By blending high-end collectibles, blockchain technology, and large-scale public art, The Lobster Painter is more than just a sculpture—it is a movement, marking a new era of art ownership where collectors, fans, and the broader public can all play a role in shaping the future of art.
