BERLIN, GERMANY.- Museum directors and legal experts have been invited by the German government to Berlin this Monday to discuss discuss claims for art bought or seized by the Nazis. Museums want to have a more active role in the restitution process. The meeting will take place at the Berlin Chancellery. According to a government spokesman Germany's Culture Minister Bernd Neumann wants to get an idea of the situation facing German museums for artwork unfairly bought or confiscated by the Nazis before and during World War Two.

Museum directors stated they will attend the meeting with suggestions concerning restitution, rather than demands. Provenance research is one of the important items that will be discussed.
