SAN ANTONIO, TX.- Ruby City announced the appointment of Ashley Mireles as its new Manager of Public Programs. A multidisciplinary artist, educator, and seasoned arts administrator, Mireles brings over two decades of experience in cultural programming and a deep commitment to community engagement through the arts.

Gonzales, Director of Ruby City. “Her unique blend of programmatic insight, passion for public engagement and artistic vision aligns beautifully with our mission to make contemporary art accessible to all. She will be instrumental in shaping inclusive and dynamic programming for our audiences.”

Since 2022 Mireles served as the Public Art Curator for the San Antonio River Foundation, where she spearheaded impactful initiatives such as Art In the Open, a program that brought site-specific performances and installations to the San Antonio River. In this capacity she also designed the River Foundation’s first free public arts program working with over 205 artists to facilitate numerous events. Her prior roles include Education and Community Programs Manager at Artpace San Antonio and co- Director of La Printeria, a printmaking training program for youth.

At the local and national levels Mireles has also held fellowships with the San Antonio Area Foundation and the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures Advocacy and Leadership Institutes. Additionally, she has served as a grant panelist for the Texas Commission on the Arts, The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures, the City of San Antonio, and City of Austin. She currently serves on the City of San Antonio’s Public Art Committee and is a recipient of the Friends of the San Antonio Public Library’s Arts & Letters Award.

Mireles’ dedication to the arts is further enhanced by her creative practice—rooted in drawing and printmaking—which explores themes of observation, identity, and cultural memory. Her work thoughtfully layers historical and contemporary imagery to reflect on the public’s interaction with art and space. A large-scale wall drawing by Mireles is installed at Artpace San Antonio while other examples of her work are held in the collections of major institutions including the National Museum of Mexican Art, Mexic-Arte Museum, the Walt Disney Company, and the San Antonio River Walk, among others.

In her new role at Ruby City, Mireles will oversee the development of innovative public programs that deepen community connections, expand access to contemporary art, and support the museum’s vision as a space for creativity, reflection, and dialogue.
