Historic Huguenot Street adds new board members
A National Historic Landmark District, Historic Huguenot Street (HHS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to preserving a pre-Revolutionary Hudson Valley settlement and engaging diverse audiences in the exploration of America's multicultural past, in order to understand the historical forces that have shaped America.

NEW PALTZ, NY.- Historic Huguenot Street announced recent changes to its Board of Trustees. Camille LeFevre and Michael Vondras began their first three-year terms on the HHS Board at a meeting held on June 26, 2025. At the same meeting, James Cotter and Rief Kanan were both nominated as Trustees Emeriti. Mr. Kanan had just completed his third term on the Board and Mr. Cotter had retired from it in May 2025. They both graciously accepted their new roles.

Camille LeFevre is a descendent of the LeFevre family, and daughter of Anne and Herbert LeFevre, long time, active members of the HHS and LeFevre Family. Herbert LeFevre, who grew up in New Paltz, was President of the LeFevre Family Association for many years and also an HHS Board Member, roles which meant a lot to him and his family.

Camille lives in Irvington, New York. Over the years, she has been active in the LeFevre Family Association and participated in many HHS events such as the Gathering and Colonial Street Festival as a tour guide in the LeFevre House.

A graduate of Smith College (AB-Economics) and NYU- Stern School of Business (MBA- Finance), she currently works for JPMorgan as an Executive Director in Wholesale Credit Risk where she leads a regulatory strategy team. Camille has a strong business background with an expertise in credit analysis and strategy.

Michael G. Vondras has enjoyed a distinguished 37-year career in banking, holding a range of roles from branch manager and lending officer at a community bank to senior executive positions in credit risk and relationship management at a major global bank. Throughout his career, he has developed a deep expertise in financial management, risk assessment, and strategic relationship-building.

In addition to his work in banking, Michael has been an adjunct instructor for over 30 years, teaching Economics, Finance, Money and Banking, and Accounting at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

A lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, Michael is a proud graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the State University of New York at Albany and an MBA from Fordham University.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Michael is deeply devoted to his family, his vocation as a teacher, and his love of the Hudson Valley, particularly its rich colonial history.

James (Jim) Cotter recently retired from his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Ulster Savings Bank, and from the Historic Huguenot Street Board as Trustee and Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee, but he continues to support and advise HHS as a Trustee Emeritus, effective June 2025. Cotter originally joined the HHS Board and was named Treasurer in June 2019.

Rief Kanan served three terms on the HHS Board of Trustees, which he joined in 2015. Kanan now proudly serves as Trustee Emeritus, effective June 2025. While on the Board of Trustees, Kanan also served as the Chair of the Audit Committee and as a member of the Finance and Scholarship committees. Kanan is a recently retired professor of accounting at the School of Business at SUNY New Paltz, where he was the Director of The Business Institute and held a Sam Walton Free Enterprise Fellowship. In May 2014, he received the Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award which is the highest honor given to an educator by the New York State Society of CPAs.
