Sultan Bin Tahnoon Receives British Culture Minister |
ABU DHABI.- His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and the emirate's Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), today received the British Cabinet Minister, the Right Honourable Tessa Jowell MP, the UK's Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport. In the meeting, the two discussed cultural and tourism developments in the UAE capital and opportunities for UK involvement.
Abu Dhabi has become a focus for international cultural partnerships since plans for a world-class Cultural District on its flagship Saadiyat Island project were announced earlier this year. Saadiyat Island, a 27 square kilometre natural island lying 500 metres offshore Abu Dhabi city, is being transformed into an international tourism destination and will house five museums and art centres, including the Middle East's only Guggenheim contemporary art museum.
