SÃO PAULO.- From August to December 2025, Sesc São Paulo joins the France-Brazil Season 2025 as one of the main partners of the French Embassy in Brazil, the Consulate General of France in São Paulo, and the Institut Français. With over twenty projects, exhibitions, and activities, Sesc contributes significantly to this ambitious bilateral initiative designed to foster cultural exchange, social dialogue, and ecological collaboration between the two nations.

Among the highlights of its participation are three major visual arts exhibitions, developed in partnership with prominent French institutions.

The Power of My Hands
Sesc Pompeia, August 23, 2025 to January 18, 2026

First presented at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris during the Africa2020 Season and then in Luanda, this exhibition now arrives to São Paulo as part of the official France-Brazil Season 2025 program. Curated by Odile Burlureaux (France), Suzana Sousa (Angola), and Aline Albuquerque (Brazil), it showcases works by women artists from African countries and the African diaspora, along with specially invited Brazilian artists. Through painting, ceramics, photography, video, performance, and embroidery, the exhibition explores themes such as the body, sexuality, self-representation, motherhood, and belief—illuminating the political power of personal experience and the expressive force of women’s hands.

FITE–Textile Biennial–Clermont-Ferrand
Sesc Pinheiros, August 24, 2025 to January 25, 2026

The International Festival of Extraordinary Textiles (FITE) comes to Brazil with the theme PLAY, co-developed with Sesc São Paulo. Originally held in Clermont-Ferrand, France, this edition expands the event’s reach by embracing textile as a vehicle for creative, political, and collective reflection. From heritage pieces to contemporary textile art, the exhibition presents works from multiple continents and cultures, addressing critical topics such as the environmental crisis, digital technologies, and identity politics. With the inclusion of Brazilian artists selected by Sesc, as well as textile works that are part of Sesc Arts Collection, this edition reinforces transatlantic dialogue and artistic collaboration.

The World Through AI
Sesc Campinas, November 27, 2025 to April 26, 2026

In partnership with Jeu de Paume, this large-scale exhibition critically examines how artificial intelligence is shaping the ways we see and understand the world. Featuring works produced since 2016, the show draws a distinction between analytical AI (e.g., facial recognition and machine vision) and generative AI (which creates images, texts, and sounds). The exhibition includes “time capsules” presented as cabinets of curiosity, linking today’s innovations to historical precedents. With contributions from artists including Hito Steyerl, Agnieszka Kurant, and Christian Marclay, the exhibition interrogates AI's ethical, environmental, and artistic dimensions—inviting viewers to question both its potentials and perils.

Through these three landmark projects, Sesc São Paulo reaffirms its role as a catalyst for cultural innovation, forging international bridges across disciplines, territories, and futures.
