EXHIBITIONS
Sensing Meaning, Abstract Painting
Ruby City
September 27, 2025 August 30, 2026
This major exhibition brings together abstract paintings from the Linda Pace Foundation Collection, Ruby City, dating from 1945 to the present. Featuring works by Joan Mitchell, Nancy Haynes, Pablo Picasso, Sarah Morris, and others, Sensing Meaning, Abstract Painting demonstrates the many ways artists embrace abstraction to convey emotion, memory, and lived experience. Gestural brushstrokes, geometric compositions, experimental materials, and even sculptural approaches reveal abstractions enduring relevance and universal accessibility. Sensing Meaning, Abstract Painting encourages viewers to draw on their own visual perception and intuition to shape their understanding and experience of abstract art and all that it can encompass.
The public is invited to join Elyse Gonzales, Director of Ruby City, on Saturday, September 27th for an exhibiton walkthrough and public reception from 2 5pm. This event is free and open to the public, registration is not required.
