DALLAS, TX.- There’s plenty to fall for in Heritage’s sweeping Autumn Luxury Accessories Signature® Auction, including extraordinarily rare and coveted pieces from Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Leading the Oct. 9 event is one of the rarest handbags ever created: the Hermès 25cm Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Kelly.

“This is the crème de la crème of luxury accessories,” says Diane D’Amato, Heritage Auctions’ Director of Luxury Accessories, Private Sales & The Boutique. “It is one of the most beautiful and sought-after bags ever made, and its flawless design and perfect size make it the ideal get.”

A masterwork of craftsmanship and exquisite artisanry, the legendary creation is fashioned from the hide of the Niloticus crocodile, whose scales are large and symmetrical, ensuring meticulous uniformity. The hide is hand-dyed and painstakingly bleached to create an ombre of smoky gray, which fades into a luminous white, evoking the snowcapped Himalayas.

The myth and magic that surround the Himalaya Kelly can be traced back to its predecessor: the Himalaya Birkin, which was originally sold only to the most dedicated and loyal Hermès collectors. In fact, the bag’s mere existence was kept secret until Jean Paul Gaultier, Hermès’ creative director at the time, showed one during the Spring 2010 runway show.

The Himalaya Kelly joins a trove of other exceptional Hermès handbags in the auction, including a bevy of on-trend smaller bags, which continue to own the market. Among the petite beauties are the special-order Horseshoe 25cm Shiny Jaune Ambre & Beige Sable Alligator Kelly, the 25cm Matte Rose Mexico Alligator Kelly Retourne and the perfect-for-fall limited-edition 20cm Grizzly Suede & Shearling Teddy Plush Mini Kelly.

For a little bit of whimsy, the Hermès offerings also include the eye-catching limited-edition 35cm Black Evergrain Leather Anate Fringe Birkin and the playful Vert Fonce & Vert Peppermint Quelle Idole Kelly Doll with moveable arms and legs. The whimsical moments continue with the auction’s wonderful selection of intricately designed minaudières by Chanel, including the imaginative Gold-Tone Metal & Strass Crystal Birdcage.

Among the auction’s other highlights is an exceptional collection of Louis Vuitton rarities from private collector Steven Walbroehl. When the 42-year-old Miami musician and entrepreneur bought his first Louis Vuitton duffel bag seven or eight years ago, he had no intention of adding luxury accessories to his ever-growing list of collections. “I travel a lot and just needed a good bag,” recalls the prolific collector of rare comics, Marvel trading card art, Magic: The Gathering cards and first-edition books. But once Walbroehl discovered Louis Vuitton, he was all in.

“I love the quality, the craftsmanship and the attention to detail,” he says. “I was drawn to Louis Vuitton because they originally made trunks for traveling, and that attitude is still imbued in the spirit of the brand.”

Today his collection includes a variety of special-edition Keepalls and trunks, collaborations with Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami, the Silver Mirror Monogram Boîte Skateboard Trunk with Skateboard and the extraordinary VIA Treasure Trunk. Among his favorite items is the Black Jacquard & Multicolor LED Monogram Light-Up Keepall Bandoulière 50, which he brought to a Louis Vuitton runway show in Paris.

Many of Walbroehl’s pieces have seldom been seen at auction, while others, such as the Silver Mirror Monogram Boîte Skateboard Trunk with Skateboard, have never been offered before. “We are delighted to offer this rare, cohesive collection of runway, travel, sports and limited-edition pieces,” D’Amato says. “The collection is as unique as the man behind it. It’s a reflection of his creativity and vision.”

Another special Louis Vuitton piece in the auction is a Monogram Coated Canvas Bisten 80 Suitcase previously owned by Ozzy Osbourne. The suitcase comes with a letter of authenticity from the rock legend’s Beverly Hills residence. Its well-traveled character is underscored by a plastic luggage tag marked “A1” on one side and an address label listing 1645 Vine Street, Suite 909, Hollywood, CA, with a phone number tied to Divine Recordings, the record label formerly owned by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. A rare blend of luxury craftsmanship and rock icon provenance, this suitcase offers collectors a unique piece of Osbourne’s legendary journey.

The autumn auction also marks the first time Heritage will present the quiet luxury of The Row, including two of the brand’s most stunning and desirable bags: the Black Alligator Margaux 10 and the Brown Leather Margaux 10. Known for championing materials and construction above all else, The Row creates pieces that are intentionally understated, allowing their refinement to speak for itself. The Margaux bag embodies the brand’s ethos perfectly. With its slouchy yet structured silhouette, it is both spacious and effortlessly chic, and its roomy design and elevated simplicity have helped it achieve cult status, often making it one of the most sought-after bags in the market.

Finally, no luxury accessories auction would be complete without spectacular jewelry, and the autumn event delivers. Among the highlights is a fantastic collection of vintage Chanel jewelry, including a Multicolor Gripoix Collar Statement Necklace and a set of three Gripoix brooches.
